Description of Course Goals and CurriculumA survey of Beethoven's works in historical context. Questions of biography and influence will also be explored. This course meets twice a week for 90 minutes. There are no precepts. The assignments for this course include listening quizzes, and two essays.
Learning From Classroom InstructionMost of the learning for this course happens in class, which goes into detail about the theory behind Beethoven's works, as well as information about his life, and the social dynamics surrounding his time.
Learning For and From AssignmentsThe listening quizzes require you to be able to recall the first couple of bars of Beethoven's tunes. The papers allow you to go into depth with anything concerning Beethoven.
What Students Should Know About This Course For Purposes Of Course SelectionThis is an awesome course! Although Scott Burnham has retired so it may be different in the future.
